and If they say “well labour nearly doubled the debt, and debt’s a good thing anyway” then just take a breath remain calm and respond…..
We must acknowledge that the financial crash happened, and that it was no fault of the Labour party. Where debt is concerned you’re absolutely right, it isn’t necessarily a bad thing. However, when a government has destroyed living standards, rapidly increased child poverty and homelessness, decimated the national health service and auctioned off our national assets, then the fact the national debt is also flying up at unprecedented rates becomes morally questionable and extremely worrying.
(ps. We are not claiming that the Labour government under tony blair and Gordon Brown were successful, far from it, they simply provide a comparison to the present institution)
