Whilst tear gas smoke darkens the horizon a group of palestinians take a break from protests against Israel by doing the Dabke a traditional Arab folk dance.Protests have been taking place since President Donald Trump recognised Jerusalem as Israel’s capital city.
The Great March of Return protests have been ongoing since the end of March. Protesters hope to raise awareness and demand the return to their pre-1948 homes.
Peaceful protesting has been met with aggressive violence from the Israeli forces but this beautifully performed dance shows that in even the most adverse conditions people can come together and create something truly captivating.
When we look back at history and we see the smoke rising behind these desert dancers, will we question the dancers or the ones that shoot bullets and tear gas at unarmed people?
he answer to that question seems clear but if so why are we not questioning it now?
